What a Nationals 2026 for Sloths as a club
What a weekend. AusChamps delivered in every sense, and there is a huge amount to be proud of.
Across all crews, the club showed up, raced hard, and went head-to-head with the best crews in Australia. More importantly, we did it together. The way the team connected and supported each other was outstanding.(by Sloths President Andy Almenara)
. It wasn’t just this AusChamps weekend
To our coaches, captains, PDTs, sweeps, drummers, organisers, and committee...thank you. Your work behind the scenes makes this all possible.
And it wasn’t just on the water. Pool sessions, family dinners, lounge recoveries, grocery hunts, beach walks, bus trips, and sideline cheers all played their part. These are the moments that bring the club together.
. All crews executed their best
Women’s Crew
While the finals eluded us this time, this group continues to grow, with real belief, resilience, and momentum. There is a genuine sense that this crew is building towards something powerful. Plenty to be proud of and even more to be excited about.
Mixed Crews
Rebels reached semi-finals in the 200m and 500m and delivered a strong 2km.
Purple pushed hard, narrowly missing a medal in the 200m and a finals berth in the 500m. Competitive and right in the mix.
. Exceptional success for Open Crew
An exceptional campaign. Silver in the 200m and 500m, bronze in the 1km (just 0.16 off silver).
The only Premier Opens crew to medals across all distances at Nationals, and the only NSW Opens crew to medal at LNY, States, and Nationals. A special achievement and a strong platform for next season.
. Our NSW representatives took the Trophy
Huge shout out to our NSW representatives. Multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals across all divisions, with NSW taking out the Peter Bristow Championship Points Trophy. An outstanding effort.
Proud of this club. Proud to be a Sloth 💜
