Sloths Women's Crew Sydney Dragon Boat TEamThe Sloths is a competitive club that focuses on training and racing hard. Our Women's and Open's Crews are the current NSW State Champions. Our Open's Crew is the fastest crew in Australia, taking gold in the 200m and 500m and silver in the 2km categories at Australian Championships (2022 & 2023). Our Women's and Mixed Crews both earned bronze medals at AusChamps (2023).

Our club started as The Sloths Social and Sporting Club, formed by four university students after a trip to Hong Kong. In 1999 we officially began competing as The Sloths Dragon Boating Club. Since then the club has grown to be one of the largest and most successful premier dragon boating clubs in Australia with a diverse membership base.

The Sloths has competed at State, National and International levels. The highest level of club racing is IDBF Club Crew World Championships (CCWC). The Sloths have compete in CCWC in Cape Town (2004), Toronto (2006) and Ravenna (2014). Our Women's and Open's crews both qualified for the CCWC in Ravenna (2024), and we have qualified for all 3 divisions in the upcoming CCWC in Hualien, Taiwan (2026) .

In addition to competing as a club in State, National and CCWC regattas, The Sloths has provided many paddlers, coaches, captains, sweeps and managers for the NSW State Team and Australian National Team (Auroras). During the recent IDBF World Championships in Germany (2025), The Sloths had 19 athletes and 1 team manager represent Australia across the Premier, Senior A, Senior B and Senior C divisions.
