Sloths Senior A got the Champion!

Published Wed 17 Dec 2025

It was a scorching long hot regatta day in December but full of Christmas spirit.

Sloths entered 2 Premier Mixed crews (Purple and Rebels), 1 Senior A Mixed crew, 1 Premier Women’s crew, and 1 Premier Open’s crew.

What were the results?

Here were what the captains said:

Captains Log - DBNSW Race 3

MATTY - OPENS CAPTAIN

As an Opens crew, we fought for every race. With each one, we dissected, adjusted, and gradually connected better as a team. I’m incredibly proud of what we were able to accomplish today with only a handful of trainings together.

I got a bit emotional after our finals when I realised I’d finally been handed the keys to the car and got to take it out for a proper test drive — and I wasn’t disappointed.

Thank you for showing up, showing out, and getting sunburnt along the way 🥵

SHONA - WOMEN'S CAPTAIN

What a fantastic day of racing. I am a very proud captain of our wonderful women. We stepped up each race and that final was incredible! We have definitely stepped up from the nationals and it was a very exciting start to women's racing for the season. I'm very excited for what Sloths women will achieve in 2026.

NAT - MIXED CAPTAIN

Mixing it up with 3 crews this afternoon, what an awesome high to finish the day on! Whilst it was an unecessarily long day, you all kept positive and on the job. ⏰️

It was super fun and the boats were #insync and flew.

Well done to everyone in handling the back to back racing and to our first time racers, you have been inducted into the cult! 🤪

Super proud of the performance you all put on the water today! 🥰

Special thanks to 2IC Anya for managing the Rebels crew. 💜

Here were the results:

Sloths senior A mixed won the champion, Sloths chicks ranked second, Rebel ranked 2th and 4th in the mixed Premier while Purple ranked 2nd and 2nd in the heats (due to the windy conditions, no final was held in the afternoon.)

What we learned at the end of the day?

"Do it as you are training. Don't be nervous."

"A tight body makes the boat slow. Stay relaxed but aggressive."

"Focus on our boat. When we take it home, stay long."

It was the start of the season, we will take these spirits on and let the fur keep on flying, with relaxation and aggressive power.
