The Human Bear (aka Matt Clee) holding aloft the States mixed trophy with pride. The commentary tower is in the background. State championships 22nd March 2003. THE SLOTHS 2002-2003 Overall Champions Medal ceremony at the end of the day, from left to right, Maxi, Rob Nield, Chris Lewis, Matty Frawley, Stuey Granger and Brendan Hundt. All looking particulary pleased with themselves, especially Mr Lewis who buy the looks of it can't wait the the Rugby season to kick off either ! Power-'VB'-Ade being drunk to replace the nutrient and minerals used during the exhaustive championships day. The Cheetah et al queue for powerade / Mother Earth bars / Bananas to keep up the energy levels. Ang Harrigan and Kathy Cleary kiss the Champs Cup that the womens crew victoriously over the other teams that day. Heriones of the purple and white.
The sun got very hot, too hot for stu, he was foundm pictured above, mumbling about wax and leg driving by the bins, poor lad.....not enough Mother Earth bars.. Here we have Janey Robbins lifting up the Overall women's state championships trophy. A testament to the effort and commitment all of the slothy chicks have shown over the last six months. Congratulations ladies. Dave 'Blue Steel' Harrow and Sim look on in awe as more slothy raise up trophys for the state titles. Dave's dad commented later how hard his son had been practising the Blue Steel look just in case the Sun's photographers turned up :) Rich Addision engaging with the mixed trophy is a suitable manner. Rich helped both mixed and womens crews by enpowering mental stimulation before each race. The Hannibal lecture of the Sloths, Intelligent, but ever so slightly crazed. Ang Kim, Val and others always manage to organise truck loads of food and drink at each slothy reggata, ensuring the guys and gals dont run out of juice. Nice one!
Coach can be see standing up [right of picture] waving of his highly comitted tuned and willing crew into the battle of Penrith Lake. Brendan Hundt can be seen still wearing the X-men glasses, not wanting to reveal his special powers unless needed.
We were middle laned for the start of the Opens finals, the wind had picked up and the rest is for discussion in the pub!!! Roll on 2003-2004
Justin Hassell and Stu Nolan, very proudly receiving medals and trophys for the mixed finals. State champion heroes...... Above we have the mixed and womens trophys with the three of the ladies that helped put them there, Kathy Russel, Christa and Mel V. Again carbing up ready for the evening's events. That is real silverware now...... The medal handed out. Pretty self explanatory really !! Ang Kim and Lucy Roberts, recieve the medals and trophys for the womens and overall state champions. Go you good things....brings a tear to my eye to see so much silverware given to one club.... sniff

Members of the engine room take a breath from lactic acid and ponder the worlds troubles. Mind you when I pulled the camera out they were all on the TV pages :) Even engines need resting especially these big diesel units. Bit of artistic licence. But good... Now with two state titles out of three tuck comfortably under the slothy pelt, a chosen band of party monkey jumped on the fun bus with a couple of crates of Lion Nathan's best. Unfortunatly one young slother just gave too much blue steele and conked out. JB had the pleasure of driving the monkeys back home, Thanks JB, appreciated..
Kate Sumpter slipped into the role of 'Clipboard Chick' effortlessly. Shouting at jack hammer levels who was in what boat when kept the dumb units on track better than most could. Amazingly Dave Hammond looks quite small in this picture! All 5ft 18inches :) Kate while running to hug the winning crew 20 mins after this shot sustained a minor head injury, but we're happy to say that a couple of sutures later, the clipboarding was not affected in any way!!
Also pictured here (left to right) are the human grizzly, Robby Nield, Andy 'Maxi mini grant purple haze' Maxwell, the big Hundt, clipboard chick herself and BDU.
It has been said on more than one occasion, and by more than one onlooker that the team comprises a multitude of dumb but very powerful units. The above picture shows some of the units falling for one of coache's 'I have lost on of my contact lense' jokes again. The human bear's butt is nearest, shot left. Pictured is the womens crew about the head down to the start of the 500m Womens finals. Berne is easily found by the infamous red hat. Chris Frawley can be seen ensuring the smooth running of the fueling station, and Eibhlis getting stuck into the buns. Which were lovely.....mmmmmmmm Scotty and Val can be seen here working out more stratagies from the information fed back by the onboard computers installed in our Dragon boat. Average boat speed, balance, weight and the position of tea-baggers are all very important pieces of information to enable our race engineer to manage a successful boat crew.......
Simmo can be see here resting like a good Sloth after filling up on bottles of powerade. Stu in the background performing a small but very important job of nail cutting, it can be very tight up front in that stroke position :) Well I hope he's cutting them and not painting them! Even though we only had 30 mins off the guys jumped straight into the food laid on by Ang, Beck, Lucy and Jane. Looks like phil has found something other than sausage meat in his bun! A wonderful capture of a moment in time around 1700 on 22nd March 2003. The womens final, beating the CCA/PD's team by about 1/3 of a boat. But I 1/3 is all ya need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As you can see the red hat is storming to vicotry, here you see the Sloths in the last 10m of the 50m kick. The kick is just like a Jet fighter turning on its afterburners, dump all you've got into the kick and this surges the boat forward, picking up speed and winning the race. It was this kick that sealed the result for the Womens crew. The triumphant Mixed 'A' crew with Captain Frawls and the read and Jane drumming, come into port. Obviously jubilitation as this is the first time in Slothy history that the mixed was taken from the PD's, who had won it four times straight!
Ewen Litchfield, John Waterhouse and Mel V load for the 1000m sprint finals. Which at the end of the day was very hard. We finished 2nd, behind a mens crew. How hot can one team get? THE SLOTHS 2002-2003 Combined Race Crews

Rich Addision (Team Psycho) Left, and Matt Frawls (right) give a pep-talk to the sloths opens team, to try and get everyone ready for the showdown eveyone was wanting to see....the Opens finals. They had obviously got to the bit where the chicks jump in the boat after winning :)
